Hello. Happy Friday. I hope everyone has a great weekend. The nice summer days are going to disappear before I know it. I won't complain over the fall days. I love them more that summer days.
It is time for another Cut It Up Challenge. This is a great one. It is a card inspired by a song. At first, the only thing I could come up with was Frosty the Snowman. And I didn't want to work on winter cards in the middle of summer. So I kept thinking. After watching the CMA Music Festival, I finally came up with a song. Honeybee by Blake Shelton. I even played the song while I was making the card.
Maybe that is why I had so much trouble making the card. First, I traced every thing so I could cut it on my Silhouette. I duplicated it, thinking I could get four complete sets on a white 12 X 12. I was going to color the pieces . Sounds right? Then why did I put a sheet of 8 1/2 X 11 on my cutting mat? Luckily, it didn't mess up the mat. Finally got it cut and it was time to put Miss Kitty together.
Wait....I only have one flower. I guess, I will cut some more.
I did Miss Kitty's head first. Put a small light blue shadow. Colored the area for her eyes and nose. Put her whiskers on. No....the glue didn't dry clear. It was suppose too. It has in the past. Oh well, I will take one of the extra heads and redo it. Can't get the head to come off so I decided to just glue one on top of the other. In trying to get the head off, I torn the area for the nose. Now it looks bad. I know I will make it a 3d nose with some foam tape.
Finally got every thing in place. I wanted to add some marks with my white gel pen. It isn't working. I love my white gel pen but I really feel like they don't hold up. I don't know if I will buy another one. I will have to think about it. I use it alot but the tip always gets stuck before the ink is gone. What does every one else use? Is there a better choice? I used my silver marker instead.
After that the card went together pretty good. I forgot to mention that this was one of the free files from the SVG Cutting Files/Jaded Blossom Hello Kitty blog hop.
The challenge this week is sponsored by Fleurette Bloom. The winner will get a $10 gift card.
I can't wait to see what every one comes up with, so make sure you go over to Cut It Up Challenges.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope you get some time to just relax.
Well that kitty sure gave you some trouble!! But the card turned out ADORABLE, so I think it was worth it. You know what happens to me sometimes? I'll load up my mat with all the scraps of colors I need to make my project, then insert the mat backwards and ruin ALL my papers!! Frustrating! And I'm right there with you on the white pen problem. They all stink!
